most podficced fandom it’s definitely stranger things lol. and that’s only counting the long WIP podfic as one, even.

most podficced ship i’m going to guess gen fic again! but let’s see. yeah lol. there’s three steve/eddie strangerthingses in there but still way more & and no rel stuff.

most kudosed podfic how a resurrection really feels, the aforementioned long WIP podfic—it’s a VERY popular fic in the steddie ship/ST fandom, and i’m posting it one chapter at a time, so that’s a good formula for high kudos (53).

least kudosed podfic i’ve got three tied here! opportunity cost, lost in the sky, and Knitting. opportunity cost and knitting are critrole, which doesn’t always seem to be a super podfic-heavy fandom, and lost in the sky is superstition hockey (already small) and a fic of the fic written by me lol so hard to even find. opportunity cost especially is one i’m really proud of, though, so i wish that’d get more.

longest podfic oh that would be how a resurrection really feels, currently clocking in at 2hrs 45minutes despite only being… 7 of 36 chapters………

shortest podfic Rubberband Girl is one second shorter than the next shortest, at 2min 12sec. it’s another stranger things fic, although this one is my one true love—max and eleven friendship.

Qualitative answers

A podfic risk you took this past year i have not finished a long podfic project since i did the tim/jason series back when i was first starting. in fact i have an only moderately long podfic languishing in WIP hell from like 2021 or something. but i started how a resurrection really feels anyway, despite being like orders of magnitude longer than anything i’ve done! we’ll see how it goes.

A way you grew as an editor wrote down my fucking process!!!! this was for how a resurrection, bc i need it to be reasonably consistent, but i’m also using it for everything and it’s nice to have a reference.

A personal favorite of your this year works okay so. i did actually. record some podfic i haven’t posted. bc it is, unsurprisingly, hockey rpf. and therefore they cannot be anywhere else on this roundup, but i am quite fond of them—i’ve relistened several times to both. (i’ll probably post them on DW behind an access filter soon, possibly along with some others i’ve recorded but not edited yet.)

A "haha i can’t believe i’m doing this" moment so, last year i said “sometimes you decide to do a fully multivoiced adaptation of a fic that is largely a script of a fictional version of the first Make Some Noise Game Changer episode.” which is true! that was wild! so obviously this year i had to top it by creating an actual podfic themed game changer episode and playing it with people during voiceteam this year. why am i like this.

A fun moment or project once again VT comes in strong! annapods and i recorded and did LONG freetalks about two superstition hockey podfics, which was delightful. i’ve known anna for a good while at this point but i’m not sure we’ve ever done a project together and i had a lot of fun playing in this tiny little sandbox that i have such fondness for.

A podfic risk you want to take next i’ve recorded a few less polished podfics now, but i haven’t really committed to posting any of them? i’d really like to! i’d also like to find a way to actually commit to less polished, bc i tend to fall back on my usual approach if i’m not thinking hard about it. maybe genuinely posting unedited is the way to go.

A future project you’re excited about last year i discovered that i have two projects i’ve asked permission for, one SHL and one Superstition, and i still haven’t recorded them! i also last year said “i have some long fics i’ve been eyeing but i need to finish a medium fic first before i’ll let myself start any of those.” well, i started the long one lmao.

A current project you’re excited about from 2022 AND 2024: i’ve been slowly working on a long mdzs podfic and i really want to finish it this year! also, minna and i started podficcing a series together and i’d love to get back to that once we both have time again. well. ONE DAY. also, obvs, how a resurrection really feels. i did also record a hockey rpf pod i DO want to post, but as of now, i’m holding it until an appropriate time in the future reveals itself to me.

A personal favorite cover art? this is not a cover art but it was a VT project so i’m including it. i organized a snake fight thesis defense post about the podfic fandom for that fandom, and as part of that, i made a version that looks like the actual mcsweeneys post! i’m very pleased with how it turned out: you can see it here.

Did you create and/or receive any gifts this year? i was part of ITPE’s rare achievement of a triple simulpod chain in which i recorded a needle, a thread by jibrailis (queen’s thief) for marianas, who also recorded it for someone else, and that person ALSO recorded it for THEIR recipient. this delights me to no end.
