A podfic risk you took this past year i did some accents on my winter podfic treats (both This Above All and we gather each other up)! they… well… they happened.

A way you grew as an editor i edited our pod_together, which not only involved editing multiple people's lines together, but also [checks notes] adding in 25 different song clips, along with multiple sound effects. it was… a bit of a crash course in more complicated audio editing and honestly i had a lot of fun with it, but it was definitely one of those 'i've done that, now i can do anything' moments

A personal favorite of your 2020 works Find a Fault is very near and dear to my heart, since i betaed the fic too, and the way my feelings about it grew from 'oh this is very good' to 'huh what if i podficced this' to 'i'm definitely going to podfic this' while i was reading versions of it was just a really fun feeling to experience, and then actually pulling it together was just very satisfying. i haven't relistened to it much yet, but i think i probably will in the future.

A "haha i can’t believe i’m doing this" moment lol that time when i forgot that the jason/tim series involves not only a significant conversation taking place over text, but also singing. i hadn't reread the fic before i started recording since i'd read it three or four times before, so i totally forgot that jason sings barracuda in his head in the middle and i got to that point and (i think there's an outtake of this?) was just like 'oh shit. oh shit i have to sing. WELL I GUESS I'LL JUST GO FOR IT!'

A fun moment or project i did not-insignifcant freetalks for both of the queer robins podfics, and i had a lot of fun just gushing about the fics for those! i haven't done a lot of freetalks since then, and i'd like to get back to doing them, bc i love listening to other people's.

A not so fun moment or project okay so listen. i adore Like You Mean It. it's one of the earliest mdzs fics i read, it's a delight, i had personal realizations, i laughed out loud. i was super hype to record it because there's so much humor and so much talking that would be fun to really act out. HOWEVER i did not think about the fact that my breath control isn't actually great (there's a reason i stopped playing the flute to sing in choir and then also stopped singing in choir lol) and when there's a line where the character stops to pant for breath at the end, i should have known this would give me problems. it did.

A surprising moment or project i recorded a knights of the old republic fic (not published, bc i don't have permission) and i didn't really think about the fact that recording hk-47 would really work better if i edited the audio to sound robot-y. i also didn't really think about the fact that there wouldn't be like… a guide online to how to make an hk-47 voice the way there is for, say, a telephone effect. i ended up searching up some reddit answers and some youtube tutorials for robots and played around, and i think it actually turned out really well!

A podfic risk you want to take next i think… i might want to organize a big multivoice project? i'm not sure other people will be into it, but EYE am, so i guess we'll see if my enthusiasm is enough to carry it.

A future project you’re excited about the fake podcast! i'm not saying any more because i want it to be a secret but. i'm so hype. i cannot express how excited i am about this project.

A current project you’re excited about frecklebomb, if you're reading this, i PROMISE i'll finish editing a heart just can't contain all this empty space sometime this year! ideally before summer! this is my accountability post now, but also. i love this fic. i'm so excited to work more on the podfic bc it means i get to relisten to the good parts all over again.

most fun project i mean, it's the obvious answer, but it's the obvious answer for a reason. pod_together was incredibly fun. the final product is a blast to listen to, i had a ton of fun choosing sections of songs, and everything about working with my co-creators was a joy

least fun project Find a Fault was the first mdzs podfic i worked on, which meant i had the initial learning curve of trying to figure out how to pronounce names in a language i'd never even attempted to speak before. i actually ended up rerecording the whole thing bc i realized i'd been saying lan wangji markedly wrong. to be clear, i actually loved listening to pronunciation guides and some very basic mandarin pronunciation videos! it just meant that the time investment in this project was a lot bigger than i really expected when i started planning it (or, more accurately, when i impulsively decided to do the podfic without planning at all lol)

project you’re proudest of also pod_together, but i'll go with something else for variety. in all these ways we come together, which is the jason/tim podfic series i did! i really hadn't done that many podfics when i decided i wanted to record a whole 6 part series which is 43k in total, and i knew it was gonna be a big project. which it was! but i also had a lot of fun with it, and the way it was split up made things go pretty smoothly tbh, although posting them all was Sure Something.

Quantitative answers

average podfic length 32 minutes

most commonly used ao3 length tag Podfic Length: 30-45 Minutes

duration of audio produced 8:00:34

number of podfics produced 15!

number of multivoices participated in one! (two, actually, since pod_together was a multivoice, but i think it's already pretty well represented in my stats, so one that i'm only contributing to)

most podficced fandom DC comics (even counting the jason/tim series together)

most podficced pairing gen! (ignoring the jason/tim series)

most podficced author defcontwo if we don't count the jason/tim series, CallMeBombshell if we do

most kudosed podfic ignoring pod_together (which also has the text) and the big ongoing multivoice i'm doing a small part in, tell me your heroes and i'll tell you that you're mine, the first part of the jason/tim series i did! with a lovely 24 kudos

least kudosed podfic well, not counting stuff that's been posted in the last week, but in my dreams we're still running' through the yard, my tim/steph queer robins feels podfic

most commented podfic again, ignoring pod_together and the big WIP multivoice, This Above All! which is fun since i only posted it in late november

longest podfic you are bright and i am blind, part 4 of the jason/tim series, at 1 hour, 32 minutes

shortest podfic the kotor fic i did for winter podfic treats that i don't have permission for, at 5 minutes
